Precast concrete “Leaching
Galleys” are used throughout New England for onsite disposal of storm
water and in many of these states for sewage effluent disposal. The
units measure 4’ square by 4’ tall and are perforated on the sides and have
an open bottom for the water to percolate into the soil. The Leaching
Galleys are generally installed end to end in rows creating a series of
trenches for the water to be stored and be absorbed into the surrounding
soils. Units are designed for H-20 traffic loading so they can be installed
under a parking lot. The stormwater systems are designed with the parking
lot catch basins receiving the parking lot stormwater, collecting the sands,
floatables and oils in an oil/sand separator, then empties into the Leaching
Galley system. |
